Do You Know God?

It’s a short question but straight and to the point. This question can be rephrased to do you want to know God? Is it possible to know God? What do I gain in knowing God and give me a good reason to know God. When it comes to God every question has an answer but in seeking the answer we may find that the answer holds our future in its grip.

The fact remains God created the environment that sustains human life before he created mankind. This should tell men that God is a sovereign person who is quite capable of autonomous thought. God knows what life is all about. We should also consider that God created has a purpose so we need to consider what purpose we serve in God’s plan. Something’s are destined to be destroyed when they have served their purpose and other things are destined to be used in future plans. Let’s consider that God has future plans where he needs men like you and me to reach his overall goals.

God has said my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge and the majority of people on planet earth have no clue as to why God loves or needs mankind. One has to ask why are most men not interested in knowing God?  For the most part the people God loves are too busy trying to live their lives as comfortable as possible. The life they have chosen demands keeping up with their neighbors and this urgency for the things of comfort causes neglect for some of the most important matters concerning their eternal life.

For the most part the majority of people don’t seek God until they are desperate and even then if and when God appears to be the only answer. Still mankind has a reason to know God because God has embedded in the minds of men an eternal destination of heaven and hell. Heaven is a place of bliss for those considered worthy and hell is a place of eternal torment for those who are not.

Still there are arrogant people who do not know God but insists God will consider them worthy of going to heaven. Are they seeking knowledge of how to get to heaven and do they know the entry requirements? Without knowing God men and women will never understand that God is using the earth to test mankind to see if they are worthy of eternal life under a set of guidelines that promotes life itself.

The holiness of God forms a set of guidelines founded within the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are a set of guidelines to restrain personal decisions arousing strife and suffering associated with sin. These restraints are designed as a disciplined course of action to show respect and a concern for the wellbeing of all living beings.

In other words love your neighbor as yourself is one of those requirements to be approved by God. Peter asked his reader, who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? (1 Peter 3:13) Have you heard what goes around comes around?  According to Sir Isaac Newton for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The spiritual law equivalent for Newton’s law is you reap what you sow. The love you sow to one another is the love you reap. The person you smile towards smiles back and the person you shout at in anger raises his voice to return your anger.

In the same way the knowledge of God tells you that he will compensate you according to your deeds. The deeds you sow today is what you will receive in your future. For example if you want nothing to do with God in this life God will grant your wish and have nothing to do with you throughout eternity.

God does not have plans to harm mankind, God has some plans we know about and some plans that he will reveal to us when the time is right. The plan we know about gives a hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) In the meantime God is not pleased with mankind who does not have faith in him or knows that God will reward those who earnestly seek him.

    Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. Amos 3:7

Do we want to know God and are we earnestly seeking to know God? How often do we pay the price for not knowing how things work. Ignorance generally leaves you on the downward side of the water falls without a means of escape. In other words it leaves you saying if you knew you would have done things differently.

The bible says we live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3). The bible also says;

Why do fools despise wisdom and discipline? Why do they avoid the gospel truth like it was a plague when its truth would save their lives?  Prudent people seek every bit of knowledge that makes them prosper and be successful. In other words they don’t do anything without knowing what they are getting into and prepare to avoid the pit falls of life.

God has placed mankind into a life situation that demands knowledge to continue into the next phase of life.  The next phase of life is heaven and hell but the next phase of life demands knowledge of heaven and hell to determine and establish a safe future. In other words eternity is like a water faucet with two handles but you have to choose if you want hot or cold.

The failure to let God know of your choice for life or death will result in death in hell. In other words your choice for life must be made known to God.  At the same time your choice for life demands a decision to know God, understand his plan and the condition of accepting Jesus as Lord. When you have met Jesus Christ and made him Lord of your life you will have the assurance of going to heaven.
